The Waynesboro Area YMCA’s mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.  Our Aquatics Center is a shining example of this commitment.  We offer senior programs, swimming lessons, and open our pools to not one but two swim teams.

The Y needs your help!  We must make critical pool repairs that will cost $350,000.  Due to this financial hardship, we are looking for community members to donate to the SAVE OUR POOL! Fund Drive. Please give a heartfelt gift to support our efforts. Your contribution will allow the Y to continue to serve the seniors, children, youth, and families of the Waynesboro area.

During the past school year, three area students were selected to go to Nationals, and one won a medal!  Our aquatics programs are at the heart of what the Y has to offer to all age groups, providing vital opportunities that otherwise are 15 miles away.  Without our pools, these swim teams would not have a place to exist, and our community would lose a valuable resource for health and connection.

FAQs about our SAVE OUR POOL! Fund Drive:
Q: What critical pool repairs are needed?
A: Work to include installation of an entirely new filtration system. In addition to the new filtration system, we will be adding a 3-foot thick,18-foot long, and 5-foot high reinforced retaining wall to support the pool structure. Read the Scope of Work and see pictures the damaged area.

Q: Is it safe to be the pool?
A: The pool is safe, and we are following daily protocols to ensure it continues to function until the scheduled shutdown.

Q: When are the repairs to be completed?
A:  Plans are in place for this major repair to take place in March 2025 after the swim team season ends. At that time, the pool will be closed for approximately 4 weeks for the repairs to be completed. We hope to raise the $350,000 needed to bring the pool system up to new condition so it can be maintained for many years to come. That being said, this is a critical repair that we are hoping can be put off until that time.
