The Waynesboro Area YMCA and the Waynesboro Area Cancer Auction have partnered together to help families who are dealing with a cancer diagnosis in the family. The Y is offering a variety of programs and support the family.

The Y and the LIVESTRONG Foundation have joined together to create LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a research-based physical activity and well-being program designed to help adult cancer survivors reclaim their total health. By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is helping people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind, and body.
Over the years, the Waynesboro Area YMCA has supported numerous families affected by cancer through various programs. Here are a few heartfelt responses from our cancer survivor participants:
“I would have been lost without this program, would not have had any game plan for exercising and probably would not have stuck with it.” -Gary who was recommended to this program from a friend.
“When I started this program, I was looking for something to help me better deal with the memories of having cancer by going to learn new applications on how to improve my life. My anticipations were to to feel better about myself, to feel better about my situation , and to make gains in both mental and physical application. This has been accomplished.” -Jim, Waynesboro Area YMCA member.

The Cancer Support Program at the Waynesboro Area YMCA is made possible by the generous donations from the Waynesboro Area Gala Cancer Auction.
What is the Gala Auction? Since 1982, many volunteers and scores of donors collaborate to create one wonderful night to benefit local cancer related organizations. An annual “event” in the area, where several hundred people gather at Green Grove Gardens Event Center for the purpose of coming together to support those dealing with cancer in our community.
The 2025 W.A.C.A. 43rd Annual Waynesboro Area Cancer Auction will be held on Saturday, April 5th at the Green Grove Gardens.
